In the spotlight this month is Carole N’zigire, an invaluable member of the SouthBridge Group team based in Rwanda, as an analyst. We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Carole to delve into her background and glean information about her experiences at SouthBridge.
Tell us a bit about you?
My name is Carole N’zigire, I am currently serving as an Analyst at SouthBridge Rwanda. My academic journey led me to earn a master’s degree in economics from the Kigali Independent University. In the professional realm, I undertake market research, build financial models, do risk assessment, and share insights that inform strategic decisions for different sectors.
Beyond the world of numbers and analysis, I’ve discovered a newfound interest in chess. As a recent enthusiast, I find the strategic challenges of chess complement my analytical mindset, fostering sharper decision-making and a deeper appreciation for strategic planning.
How long have you worked at Southbridge and what made you want to join the company?
I have been at Southbridge for a year and a half. My decision to join SouthBridge was mainly driven by 3 primary factors: the excellence, the savoir-faire, and the great vision of the partners. I recognized that SouthBridge commitment to provide pan-African investment and advisory services aligned perfectly with my aspirations of providing solutions and be part of the change we want to see in Africa. I saw it as an opportunity to further develop my skills in strategic advisory, aiming to drive both financial and economic success for African institutions.
What do you enjoy most about working at Southbridge?
At SouthBridge, we work alongside professionals from various cultures and countries. I’ve discovered the richness and depth that different perspectives bring to the table. This has not only broadened my worldview but has also enriched my problem-solving approach.
Moreover, my experience engaging across different sectors has been incredibly rewarding. It’s fascinating to navigate the intersections where industries converge, as it allows for a holistic understanding of complex challenges and opportunities. Whether it’s in banking, energy, hospitality, climate finance, affordable housing, DFI’s or any other industry, I thrive on the excitement of learning from diverse perspectives and applying these learnings to create comprehensive strategies.
This exposure has not only strengthened my professional versatility but has also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of collaboration across sectors and nationalities. I strongly believe that this diversity is a catalyst for innovation and progress in today’s interconnected global landscape.
What career development and growth opportunities are available at Southbridge?
SouthBridge facilitates growth and seamless transitions across various sectors and roles for its members. Additionally, it supports the development of key technical skills. This opportunity has allowed me to learn from renowned institutions such as the Corporate Finance Institute, the Corporate Chartered Analyst, and our internal enriching sessions with experts while undertaking our tasks. What advice would you give someone interested in joining Southbridge?
Firstly, adaptability is key at SouthBridge, things move fast. It’s important to be flexible and open-minded in your approach to executing different tasks.
Secondly, be proactive in expanding your skills and knowledge. Continuous learning not only helps you excel but also boosts your confidence.
Lastly, the most important thing is to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, even the small ones as they do not impact your career but also the enterprises, countries, and the continent.
